It was relatively slow week here at iLounge, as accessory submissions slowed to a crawl in the wake of Apple’s recent iPad announcement, and Adobe continued its back-and-forth with Apple over the future of Flash on the iPhone OS platform. Here’s a look at what’s new.

Reviews & First Looks

In our Articles section, we shared our thoughts On Cogs, Or, The Challenges Of In-App Purchasing, and continued our iPhone Gems series with reviews of the retro titles Space Miner and Giana Sisters, as well as racers Drag Racer, Parcel Panic, and Riddim Ribbon: BEP.

In the News

Apple this week launched its “Countdown to 10 billion songs” promotion, offering a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card to the user who downloads the 10 billionth song from iTunes, NPD reported that Apple was the fifth-largest electronics retailer, both online and in brick-and-mortar sales, in the U.S. during 2009, and the company began soliciting App Store feedback from iPhone developers.

A new report suggested Apple is planning to debut $1 standard-definition TV show offerings alongside the iPad launch, Applereleased the second beta version of its iPhone SDK 3.2 for iPad, Disney CEO Bob Iger called the iPad a potential “game changer,” and text found on Apple’s website stated that the iBooks app will be an optional download for iPad users.

Apple TV & iPhone Update

Apple this week released Apple TV Software Update 3.0.2, bringing with it connectivity, performance, and media-related bug fixes, new data from ComScore showed that the iPhone accounts for more than a quarter of the U.S. smartphone market, Adobe claimed it saw seven million Flash download attempts from iPhone and iPod touch users in December 2009, and a new report suggested Google pays Apple more than $100 million per year for its position as the default search engine on the iPhone.

That about does it for this week’s round-up. Don’t forget to enter our Uncommon Custom Case Giveaway for your chance at one of 200 customized Uncommon cases for the iPhone 3G, 3GS, or iPod touch, and check back next week for more coverage from iLounge. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day weekend!
